The New CMS Interpretive Guidelines on the Hospital CoPs: H&P, Verbal Orders, Security of Medication and Post-Anesthesia Evaluations

Program Description
Hospitals that receive Medicare reimbursement are required to comply with the changes to the CMS interpretive guidelines on H&P, verbal orders, security of medication and post-anesthesia evaluations which became effective January 1, 2008. This program will focus on strategies to facilitate compliance with the new interpretive guidelines. Please note that this new regulation does NOT apply to critical access hospitals at this time.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

Recall changes to the hospital conditions of participation interpretive guidelines including the requirement that the H&P must be done within 24 hours of admission and completed in no more than 30 days.
- Describe the new CMS changes to the hospital CoP, including the requirement for post-anesthesia evaluations for outpatients.
- Discuss the new CMS interpretive guideline for hospitals on verbal orders, including that they must be dated, timed, and authenticated promptly by the ordering practitioner or others allowed to sign them.

How the Webinar Will Work

Substitution, Transfer and Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received in writing up to five business days prior to an event will be given a full refund less a $50 processing fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations received less than five business days prior and day-of-program no-shows. Substitutions are accepted.
