Program Description
The formal medical staff structure no longer represents most physicians. This presentation shows how better performing hospitals now use a variety of innovative strategies to manage the conflict between physicians and hospitals and build strong hospital-physician relationships. Participants will learn how to structure employment entities to secure key specialty and primary care physicians. They will also learn how to involve physicians in developing organizational changes that effectively address conflict around the OR. A case study will show how a hospital moved to protect a vital revenue stream by developing a Cardiovascular Institute as an employment vehicle.

Jeffry Peters, President, Health Directions, LLC, Chicago
Jeffry Peters has provided thought leadership to the health care industry for nearly two decades. In 1987, he developed one of the nation's first hospital-sponsored MSOs. As a consultant, he has worked with executives in hundreds of health care organizations to improve financial and operational performance and enhance strategic positioning. Peters speaks and writes frequently on the challenges facing health care leaders. An engaging presenter, he has delivered well-received talks at dozens of industry events including the SHSMD Annual Educational Conference, the Forum for Healthcare Strategists, the MGMA MSO Executive Assembly and the OR Business Management Conference.
His articles have appeared in The Physician Executive, MGMA Connexion, Modern Physician, Healthcare Strategy Alert, Journal of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, H&HN OnLine and other journals and newsletters. He has also been quoted in several industry publications, including Modern Healthcare, Medical Economics and HealthLeaders. Peters is president of Health Directions, LLC, a health care consulting firm based in Chicago. He received his MBA from Northwestern University.

How the Webinar Will Work

Substitution, Transfer and Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received in writing up to five business days prior to an event will be given a full refund less a $50 processing fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations received less than five business days prior and day-of-program no-shows. Substitutions are accepted.
