Program Description
A myriad of decisions must be constantly considered surrounding coding, billing and the charge master. As decisions are considered, analyzed and made, the reasoning behind the decisions must be documented. While the development of coding, billing and charge master policies and procedures is quality function; this process also assists in maintaining an appropriate compliance stance.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

Discuss the overall revenue cycle and associated coding, billing and charge master issues.
- Explain statutory and contractual compliance surrounding the coding and billing process.
- Describe a systematic process to audit and evaluate the various coding and billing processes including the charge master.
- Describe the compliance concerns surrounding the coding, billing and reimbursement.
- Explain the very different requirements made by different third-party payers for coding, billing and the charge master.
- Review action steps that compliance personnel can take in concert with charge master coordinators, coding and billing personnel.

Duane Abbey, PhD, CFP, Abbey & Abbey Consultants
Duane Abbey is a management consultant and president of Abbey & Abbey Consultants. For more than 20 years, Abbey has provided health care consulting on compliance, payment and delivery systems for hospitals, physicians and medical clinics. In addition to his consulting work, Abbey is frequently invited as a presenter for hospital associations, medical societies and other groups. He also has published articles and books on health care topics. He earned his graduate degrees from the University of Notre Dame and Iowa State University.

How the Webinar Will Work
Dial-in instructions, on-line login instructions and any other reference materials will be emailed to each registrant approximately three days prior to the conference. If you do not receive them by this date, please email lgeishirt@wha.org.
It is the responsibility of the registrant to access presentation materials prior to the day of the event. If your e-mail address changes, you do not receive an e-mail with instructions from WHA, or if you are unable to open presentation materials, please contact Lisa Geishirt at WHA two days prior to the event to allow time to address the issue.
Substitution, Transfer and Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received in writing up to five business days prior to an event will be given a full refund less a $50 processing fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations received less than five business days prior and day-of-program no-shows. Substitutions are accepted.
