The Hospital-Employed Physician Enterprise: Maximizing Health Plan Contract Performance

Webinar
June 24, 2009
Time: 9 - 10 am CENTRAL TIME

Register for this event online:
June 24, 2009 ($295 per line)

Program Description
With physician employment arrangements on the rise, hospitals are conducting a critical review of the health plan contracts in place for their employed physicians along with their overarching contracting strategies. Hospitals have historically focused their contracting efforts on the higher dollar facility services, leaving considerable revenue improvement opportunities under physician agreements. In fact, physician contracts with health plans often continue under the same financial terms that were in place prior to employment. Renegotiation of health plan agreements under the umbrella of the entire physician enterprise or the health system can reap considerable financial gains. This webinar will present the key success factors, action steps, and strategies to maximize performance of commercial health plan contracts for the hospital-employed physician enterprise.

Learning Objectives
At the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
  • Discuss health plan priorities and provider initiatives based on key trends in physician reimbursement.
  • Identify the critical pitfalls that lead to unfavorable financial performance.
  • Conduct an assessment of current contract performance, to size up the upside revenue improvement opportunity for the next negotiation cycle.
  • Establish contracting criteria based on key terms that affect financial and operating performance.
  • Identify specific strategies and tactics for effective contract negotiations.
