Workplace Injury Evaluation Saves Time, Money

Beloit Health System – Beloit

Beloit Health System – BeloitBeloit Occupational Health (BOH) offers a complimentary, on-demand injury evaluation service to area business partners. The service includes onsite injury assessment, referrals to the appropriate specialists by an experienced Industrial Trainer, First Aid/Injury care and OSHA recordable injury management.

This collaboration came about when BOH, while working with PSI Power Engines as they opened their second location in Beloit, discovered a pressing need for these services. An initial discovery meeting revealed the need for someone to help when an injury occurred because the company safety manager was unable to leave their site when an injury occurred. Discussions of the company’s protocols for workers’ compensation soon followed.

BOH then developed a program to offer an Occupational Specialist who is also a Certified Athletic trainer to provide health care assessment onsite. The employer calls BOH if they have an injury, and the specialist is sent out to assess and treat the injury at the location. If the injury cannot be treated onsite, the Occupational Specialist would then make the referral to Occupational Health Facility or Emergency Department, depending on the severity of the injury.

This program helps companies by reducing time lost offsite and not requiring the safety manager to leave the premises. With injuries being treated on site, it also helps reduce the OSHA recordables for the company and reduce overall time lost to injuries.
