WHA Celebrates National Healthcare Quality Week Oct. 20-26

Apply for a WHA Quality & Patient Safety Award
National Healthcare Quality Week, organized by the National Association for Healthcare Quality, is a time to celebrate the field and highlight the positive impact of those working in health care quality and safety within their organizations and communities.

WHA invites member hospitals to apply for this year’s Quality & Patient Safety Awards. The awards recognize hospitals in Wisconsin that have made significant advancements in patient outcomes. The WHA quality and patient safety team continues to support hospitals in their journey toward excellence in health care quality. All submissions are encouraged to share their stories during Advocacy Day in April 2025 at the Health Care Quality Showcase. The application deadline for the awards is Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, at 5 p.m. For more information and to apply, visit https://www.wha.org/Quality-Patient-Safety-Awards.

In celebration of Healthcare Quality Week, WHA hosted the I-PASS Patient Safety Institute webinar on Oct. 22, An Evidenced-Based Approach for Improving Patient Safety and Enhancing High Reliability – Structured Handoff Communication. Participants learned about a systems-based approach to health care communication, utilizing evidence-based solutions and strategies to improve handoff communication across health care teams, ensuring better care coordination and a reduction in medical errors. The presentation recording can be found at: I-PASS An Evidenced-Based Approach for Improving Patient Safety webinar recording.
