Joanne Alig
Joanne Alig, WHA senior vice president, public policy, will be retiring on June 30, 2025. Alig, who has been with WHA since December 2010, leads WHA’s public policy development in areas related to insurance coverage, payer policies and regulation and government program reimbursement.
Alig’s career in Wisconsin health care policy spans nearly 30 years. Prior to joining the WHA advocacy team 14 years ago, Alig worked on public policy development as an analyst at the Wisconsin Legislative Fiscal Bureau and in the Medicaid program at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. She also worked at the Wisconsin Association of Health Plans and as a consultant with Deloitte immediately prior to joining WHA. When Alig retires in June, she will have worked on 15 two-year Wisconsin state budgets.

She is exceptional.”

Alig will move to a half-time role in April before fully retiring at the end of June.
