BREAKING: Governor Evers Announces He Will Not Run for Reelection

WHA Applauds Gov. Evers for His Service and Partnership with Wisconsin Hospitals

The Wisconsin Hospital Association released the following statement from President & CEO Kyle O’Brien on news that Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers plans to not seek reelection for a third term:

“Over the last six years, we were proud to partner with Governor Evers and his administration during some of the most challenging times hospitals have faced in recent memory. The governor and his administration were critical partners throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, truly working day and night to assist hospitals and their care teams with the resources they needed to care for patients.

“The governor signed into law three state budgets that all provided substantial Medicaid reimbursement increases for Wisconsin’s hospitals, strengthened investments in our healthcare workforce and reduced barriers to care for providers and patients.

“And just a few weeks ago, the governor and legislative leaders worked together, with only hours to spare, to enact a state budget that ensured Wisconsin would not lose out on hundreds of millions of dollars that will now be used to expand access to care throughout Wisconsin communities. Whenever we faced a crisis, the governor was a strong partner who worked to help hospitals.

“The Wisconsin Hospital Association is grateful for the partnership we’ve had with Governor Evers and his team throughout his tenure. We thank the governor for his service to Wisconsin and his strong support of our state’s hospitals and care providers.”
