On April 7, the 10-member 2026 WHA Health Care Leadership Academy explored the world of conflict and difficult conversations. With the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument as a guide, the group learned their “go to” conflict resolution style while also exploring the strengths and challenges of all strategies to resolve conflict. UW CPED Instructor Tracey Nelson showed the group that understanding their own conflict style and developing their ability to effectively communicate in challenging situations will lead them to more effective relationships, a more constructive culture and a better performing team and organization.
