Standardized Huddle and Visual Management Board Implementation
Aurora Medical Center-Manitowoc County introduced huddles on patient care units to enhance awareness of issues affecting patient safety, quality, and service of care. However, unit leaders observed that huddles were becoming lengthy, information was dispersed across various locations, key issues and priorities were not well-known, and attendance was low. This led to the development of a high-reliability standardized huddle process and management board. The new approach has streamlined communication and increased engagement within the clinical units of the medical center.
