WHA Information Center Celebrates 20 Years of Service to Wisconsin

This year the Wisconsin Hospital Association Information Center (WHAIC) marks its 20th year of collecting and reporting discharge, financial and other types of data from all Wisconsin hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). And for two decades, WHAIC has been making that information publicly available at no cost to taxpayers.

WHA Urges Assembly Committee to Support Health Care Workforce Recruitment and Retention

Supporting urgent and sustainable efforts to grow Wisconsin’s health care workforce was a key point in testimony provided by WHA Senior Vice President of Workforce and Clinical Practice Ann Zenk at the March 16, 2023 meeting of the Assembly Committee on Ways and Means as the committee considered a bill is aimed at creating an advantage for Wisconsin in the recruitment and retention of psychiatrists and mental health nurse practitioners in their initial years of practice in mental health professional shortage areas in the state.

As Drug Costs and PhRMA Profits Soar, New National Alliance Forms to Threaten 340B

On March 9, a group billing itself as the Alliance to Save America's 340B Program (ASAP) announced its formation as well as the set of principles it would like to see implemented that would vastly alter the 340B prescription drug discount program. The alliance is headed up by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and the National Association of Community Health Centers and includes 10 other groups.
