Screen Free Week invites families to take a break from their screens for one week in May to help decrease anxiety, depression and build healthier lifestyle habits.
Aurora Medical Center – Washington County and Aurora Medical Center – Grafton have joined this movement for the last five years. The event planning committee works with local organizations like libraries, park departments, nature and outdoor recreation organizations, art museums, schools, and cities to provide opportunities for children and adults to try new activities. In 2023, Screen Free Week activities included story times and craft classes at libraries, nature hike at Pike Lake State Park, free indoor swim sessions, fun run/walk at Regner Park, Teen/Kid Scavenger Hunt and Goose Chase Game, and free trail use at Riveredge Nature Center.
Community participation has more than doubled in both counties since 2021.
Other local community partners include Froedtert Health Care, Washington Ozaukee Public Health Department, and community-based organizations.
