Promoting Community Safety

National Night Out is a national community-building event that enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing a true sense of community. The event takes place in the West Allis Farmers Market, a community gathering place. The West Allis Police Department hosts the event and Aurora West Allis Medical Center sponsors it. Aurora West Allis Medical Center teammates help plan the event and staff educational booths, covering a variety of safety topics.

The hospital sponsors the event because community safety is a top priority. Other community safety initiatives from 2023 include:
  • Hosting a Sexual Assault Treatment Center, which served 32 people.
  • Providing programming for older adults such as ISAR screening, 3 Stepping On Falls Prevention Sessions for 22 older adults and other classes.
  • Performing 153 car sear checks by certified car seat technicians and providing a variety of educational classes for community members on safe care for children and babies.
Together, with community partners, Aurora Health Care is making West Allis a safer place to live well.
