Collaboration With the Wisconsin Well Woman Program Leads to a Successful Mobile Mammography Event

Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) staff in Osseo and Mondovi organized a mobile mammography screening and health education event at the MCHS clinic in Mondovi, with support from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services’ Wisconsin Well Woman program.

Through this collaboration, MCHS was able to serve patients who might have encountered barriers to receiving mammograms, such as high deductibles, lack of health insurance, challenges navigating the healthcare system, and language differences. Dr. Christina Campbell, a resident of Family Medicine, was present to educate patients about the importance of conducting breast self-exams. Language interpreters were also available.

Twenty people received mammograms, and one patient was referred for additional imaging. By partnering with the Wisconsin Well Woman program, MCHS expanded access to mammography services and provided additional financial resources to patients in rural communities.
