Expanding access to health through Journey to Wellness
In response to the overwhelming success of the 2023 virtual Journey to Wellness program, Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS)'s Community Engagement staff extended the initiative into 2024. The program was designed to simplify the path to healthier living by offering monthly toolkits that bundled key wellness resources and materials. Each toolkit focused on a unique aspect of healthy living, empowering participants to engage with the content at their own pace. Each month featured a new wellness theme, with toolkits containing:
Blogs and videos from Mayo Clinic experts
Printable handouts and self-guided activities
Resources tailored to different aspects of healthy living
Participants chose the materials most relevant to their goals and completed them at their own pace—making wellness more accessible and personalized.
By the end of 2024, nearly 14,000 participants across the country had joined the program, and nearly 1,500 of those were new in 2024. By offering the program virtually, MCHS expanded its reach to a broader and more diverse population. This format removed geographic and scheduling barriers, allowing people from various backgrounds to access high-quality health and wellness information. The program also supported MCHS’s strategic priorities and aligned with Community Health Needs Assessment goals.
The Journey to Wellness program continues to be a powerful example of how virtual engagement can foster healthier communities. By meeting people where they are—online and on their own schedules—MCHS is helping thousands take meaningful steps toward better health.
