On May 12, WHA held its second webinar for the readmissions quality initiative to support rural and critical access hospitals reduce 30-day readmissions.
 
With the goal of reducing 30-day readmissions for heart failure, pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and heart attack, the session drew close to 50 participants from 20 critical access and small rural hospitals’ continuing participation.
 
After a brief overview of the race and ethnicity data from WHA’s Information Center Health Equity Organizational Assessment (HEOA) dashboard, Marshfield Medical Center-Park Falls Director of Quality and Patient Safety and Home Health and Hospice Kim Bortz shared how her hospital has worked diligently to improve its COPD readmissions over the years. Networking offered participants opportunities to share goals and plans on how to launch their ideas to reduce readmissions.

There will be one final webinar in this series for previously registered attendees on June 9, followed by one-on-one technical assistance coaching sessions this summer.
