Heroes for Healthcare has been awarded a Talent Recruitment Grant through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), creating another opportunity to recruit medically trained veterans into Wisconsin’s health care workforce.

The WEDC Talent Recruitment Grant Program supports efforts to attract new residents from outside the state and promote Wisconsin as an exceptional place to live, work and build a future. Through this grant, Heroes for Healthcare will carry out an active, data-driven recruitment strategy focused on bringing medically trained veterans to Brown County, including medics, corpsmen, medical technicians and veterans with RN licenses.

Heroes for Healthcare’s application received support from Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach. The effort aims to recruit 10 medically trained medics, corpsmen or medical technicians and 10 veterans with RN licenses to Brown County. Together, these positions represent an estimated $1.676 million in annual compensation and would help meet critical health care workforce needs in the region.

Heroes for Healthcare has established partnerships with Emplify Health and Aurora BayCare Medical Center, both of which are interested in hiring medically trained veterans through this effort.

A key feature of the Talent Recruitment Grant is the ability to offer financial incentives to assist veteran households with relocation expenses. Heroes for Healthcare will use customized incentive packages to help eligible veteran households relocate to Wisconsin. To qualify, a veteran’s household income must be at least $55,000 and the relocation incentive may be up to $7,500.

Hospitals interested in participating in this workforce recruitment opportunity are encouraged to contact Joyce Mallory at joyce@heroesforhealthcare.org.
