Substance Use in Older Adults
This Lunch and Learn series was developed to support those who treat and care for people struggling with substance use disorders in rural Wisconsin at no cost to participants.
Join us for a didactic session led by addiction medicine physician Dr. Randy Brown, focusing on substance use in older adults. This webinar will explore practical strategies for providers to recognize, manage, and support older adults facing substance use challenges. Topics include the epidemiology and assessment of substance use, medical management of substance use disorders, and safe tapering of controlled substances such as benzodiazepines.
Randall Brown MD, PhD, DFASAM – Program for Research, Outreach, Therapeutics, and Education in the Addictions (PROTEA) Director and Professor within the UW DFMCH, Director of the UW Center for Addictive Disorders, and the Program Director for the UW Addiction Medicine Fellowship Programs. Leads and collaborates on clinical trials, health services research, outreach, and education efforts for the PROTEA Program.
