WHA has recognized Sen. Tim Carpenter with the Association’s 2024 Health Care Advocate of the Year Award.
Carpenter was honored at WHA’s annual Advocacy Day event on Wednesday, March 20 for his service to the Wisconsin people through his support of Wisconsin’s health care system. In presenting Sen. Carpenter the 2024 Health Care Advocate of the Year, WHA President and CEO Eric Borgerding cited Carpenter’s work modernizing the state’s mental health records, bringing reform to Wisconsin’s hospital regulations, advancing the Health Care Data Modernization Act, and voting in favor of legislation that would help discharge patients to appropriate post-acute care settings.
“Sen. Carpenter has been deeply committed to his constituents and high-quality healthcare in Wisconsin throughout his 40-year career in the state legislature,” said Borgerding. “Sen. Carpenter frequently shares the stories of his constituents, including the work of Aurora St. Lukes and Ascension St. Francis hospitals, as he works to shape public policy. Sen. Carpenter has been an important partner for WHA as we work to advance policies that protect and strengthen the ability for hospitals to deliver high quality, high value health care to patients.”
“I truly believe that our hospitals are the anchors that keep people afloat,” said Sen. Carpenter. “I appreciate the partnership with WHA, and I look forward to starting early next session to work on policies that ensure our hospitals have the resources they need.”
WHA’s Advocacy Day is Wisconsin’s premier health care advocacy event that annually draws in hundreds of attendees from across the state, representing nearly every hospital and health system in Wisconsin. The Advocate of the Year Award is given by WHA each year to a lawmaker who supports Wisconsin hospitals and champions health care issues.
