The WHA Foundation presented four scholarships to future health care professionals at the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) State Leadership Conference for middle and high schoolers in Wisconsin Dells on April 15. WHA staff also promoted the So Many Options workforce promotion campaign by exhibiting at the event’s expo.
During the expo, WHA staff talked to nearly 500 students, advisors, teachers and other event attendees about the variety of career pathways available in health care in Wisconsin. Not only did WHA staff encourage attendees to visit the So Many Options website, but they gained insights into the types of careers students are interested in pursuing. Launched in February, the campaign aims to help grow the health care career pipeline by educating middle and high school-aged students and their adult influencers on hospital careers in Wisconsin.
In the evening, HOSA hosted an awards and scholarship recognition ceremony for students to accept awards and scholarships. The WHA Foundation presented four $500 scholarships to assist students with their future education in a health-related field.
Leigh Ann Larson, Executive Director of the WHA Foundation, said, “Supporting HOSA and its students through academic scholarship funding was a natural decision for the Foundation board as it addresses the health care workforce issues with our state.”
WHA also recognizes and thanks the many hospital members who sponsored and exhibited at the event.
