Children’s Wisconsin and the Community Health Asthma Management Program Receive 2021 Global Vision Community Partnership Award
WHA has awarded its 2021 Global Vision Community Partnership Award to Children’s Wisconsin and the Community Health Asthma Management Program (CHAMP).
CHAMP was established more than five years ago to improve uncontrolled asthma in children. CHAMP aims to reduce the frequency of asthma complications and the associated number of missed school or workdays, as well as decrease asthma-related emergency department utilization and hospitalization. CHAMP serves families in Milwaukee County with an emphasis on reaching people who are socioeconomically disadvantaged and those burdened by health disparities, including people of color. Referrals are received both from Children’s Wisconsin’s clinical areas as well as community partners.
WHA Foundation Executive Director Leigh Ann Larson presented the award to Children’s Wisconsin and the Community Health Asthma Management Program at the Next Door Clinic in Milwaukee on May 23.
The purpose of the Global Vision Community Partnership Award is to recognize and reward community partnership projects that work with a WHA member hospital(s) to meet an identified community health need in an innovative or creative manner.
WHA congratulates Children’s Wisconsin and CHAMP for this recognition of their important work.
