WHA Celebrates Community Health Improvement Week, Shares Resource
Community Health Improvement Week is June 12-18, 2023—a time to honor those working in partnership to improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities and advance health equity.
Share your community health stories
This week we encourage hospital members to showcase a story from their organization that demonstrates the importance of community health. Tag WHA social media accounts to maximize engagement and reach. Also, feel free to “like” and share any of WHA’s posts.
Click here to visit AHA’s webpage, which includes a digital engagement toolkit.
Use the WHA Information Center’s Mapping Tool
WHA Information Center developed a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) Mapping Tool to help aid organizations in the completion of their triennial Community Health Needs Assessments and their Community Health Improvement and Implementation Plan (CHIIP).
The mapping tool allows hospitals and community partners the opportunity to identify areas of need in their community by comparison of clinical conditions and community characteristics. Using data from both the WHA Information Center and American Community Survey, the tool allows for specific analysis down to the census tract level of individual communities.
To use this tool, log into the WHA member portal. Select the resources tab, then “Community Health Needs Dashboard.”
If you have questions regarding the CHNA dashboard, contact Emily Holden.
Reminder for quality professionals: don’t forget to complete the Health Equity Transformational Assessment
As published in WHA’s Quality newsletter earlier this year, WHA reminds you to take the Health Equity Transformational Assessment. The Health Equity Roadmap is a framework to help hospitals and health care systems chart their own paths toward transformation—thus becoming more equitable and inclusive organizations. Once the assessment is completed, you will be provided with a profile report and access to the Health Equity Action Library.
For additional information, contact Nadine Allen.
