Grant Regional Health Center, Lancaster, 2023 Workforce Report

Team Environment and Culture

We knew the importance of highlighting our culture to interested recruits in order to showcase why nurses would want to be a part of our organization. We were proud to offer a Nursing Open House so nursing students or any current nurse could walk side by side with our nurses to see for themselves and experience the difference at our hospital. We hosted two sessions (morning and evening) that included an overview of nursing at GRHC and why GRHC is a great place to work, followed by a tour and shadowing experience in Med Surg, OB, ER, and Surgery. Following the shadowing experience, we offered a 30-minute timeframe to ask a panel of current GRHC nurses any questions they had. This event was a great opportunity to showcase our staff and facility to recruit nurses, especially those graduating in December.

We had seven individuals attend. All attendees said it was a great experience to learn more about nursing at GRHC, feel the culture of the organization, and tour their top two clinical areas of choice.  Many did not know about the key elements that differentiates nursing at GRHC prior to the event and they appreciated receiving this information. Most of the attendees were future nursing graduates (2024). We are considering hosting an additional Nursing Open House in 2023.

We received a thank you email from one of the attendees who is graduating in December 2023 that said: “I appreciated the information provided and the job shadows immensely. Your nurses really made me feel like part of the team for the short amount of time I was there, and I can feel the family bond you all share. I think this is a great opportunity for students to explore Grant Regional and should be continued for the future. Thank you for your kind words and your passion for health care and students. It does not go unnoticed. Once again, I greatly appreciate the wonderful day last week and I look forward to working with you all in the near future!”
