The Wisconsin Hospital Association will have an outstanding legislative panel for Advocacy Day 2024. Confirmed panelists include legislative leaders from both parties: Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester), Minority Leader Rep. Greta Neubauer (D-Racine), Majority Leader Sen. Devin LeMahieu (R-Oostburg) and Minority Leader Sen. Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton).

Wisconsin’s licensed registered nurses (RNs) were notified by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) on Jan. 10, 2024, that their renewal period was open. This is the first time that Wisconsin’s 118,000 active RN license holders will renew utilizing DSPS’s LicensE platform. It’s a leap year, so RNs have one more day to renew this year. The renewal timeframe ends on Feb. 29, 2024.

As I reflect on another year flown by, 2023 can be summed up in one word: ACTION—some vigorously on the offensive and, unfortunately, some staunchly defensive. Regarding the latter, I’ve been in the advocacy game for more than 35 years and cannot recall hospitals under attack and scapegoated quite like they’ve been this past year.

The Wisconsin Hospitals State PAC & Conduit closed out the 2023 fundraising campaign raising $364,495 from 275 individual contributors. That is 104% of its 2023 goal of raising $350,000. The overall average individual contribution in 2023 was $1,325, and of the 275 contributors, 58 were first-time contributors with an average contribution of $620.
