Members of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) elected WHA Information Center (WHAIC) Vice President Jennifer Mueller, MBA, RHIA, SHIMSS, FACHE, FAHIMA, as president/chair of the 2023 Board of Directors. Her one-year term began Jan. 1.
Mueller has been the vice president and privacy officer at WHAIC for the last five years. Prior to that, she was the vice president and chief information officer at Watertown Regional Medical Center in Watertown. As an active member of the Wisconsin Health Information Management Association (WHIMA), Mueller previously served as president of the WHIMA Board of Directors and has received several of the chapter’s awards recognizing excellence in the health information profession and service to the chapter. Those awards include the WHIMA Rising Star Award, Motivator Award, and Distinguished Member Award. Additionally, she is an active member of the Wisconsin chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and the HIPAA Collaborative of Wisconsin.
“I am honored to lead AHIMA at this time of breathtaking evolution in health care,” said Mueller. “Health information professionals are uniquely positioned to balance technology and data's tremendous power and potential with our responsibility to every patient as stewards of their health information.”
AHIMA is a global nonprofit association of health information professionals with more than 71,000 members.
