DHS Expands Eligibility for Monkeypox Vaccination
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) announced expanded eligibility for the monkeypox vaccine July 28, 2022. In Wisconsin, vaccination is now recommended for people who had known exposure to someone with monkeypox and for people who may be more likely to be exposed to the virus.
In their announcement DHS also provided supportive resources for patients and a link to monkeypox information for health care professionals. Providers with questions about vaccination can reach out to DHS by email at DHSMonkeypoxVaccine@wi.gov. DHS also maintains a DPH Communicable Diseases on-call team at 608-258-0099 for urgent needs.
