Governor’s Council Releases Workforce Resource

The Governor’s Council on Workforce Investment (CWI), the state-designated group charged with aiding Wisconsin employers in finding the workers they need and providing resources to enable workers to access training for in-demand careers, has launched a new CWI Dashboard. WHA Senior Vice President of Workforce and Clinical Practice Ann Zenk serves on the Council, along with Thomas Miller, president of Aurora BayCare Medical Center, and leaders from other key industries across the state. The dashboard is an online data tool to measure the progress of the state’s workforce programs to support workers and employers.

The CWI Dashboard will serve as a resource for council members, workforce system partners, employers and the public by providing a way to track the progress of the actions items within the 2022-2026 CWI Strategic Plan. The dashboard also provides another public resource as DWD continues its dedication to transparency and public accountability.  Metrics are included for the CWI focus areas and the performance and outcome requirements under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). In the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) news release announcing the launch, DWD Secretary Pachacek notes, “The dashboard will strengthen the collaboration between DWD and its partners as we prepare Wisconsinites for good jobs and support employers’ economic growth.”

Among the partnerships DWD highlighted in their release and that CWI members learned about at their August 27 meeting was the partnership enabled by a Workforce Innovation Grant received by the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay in June 2022. The grant helped UW-Green Bay expand its nursing clinical instructor capacity through partnerships with three healthcare providers. The August meeting also included a hands-on learning experience for council members at the Simulation Center on the Aurora BayCare Medical Center campus; a center that provides a space for nursing students and other medical professionals to practice their techniques and learn new medical technologies.
