Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA) has honored Gundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital and Clinics Board Chair Jim Mlsna with the 2024 Trustee Award. WHA General Counsel Matthew Stanford presented the award to Mlsna on Nov. 21.
For more than 60 years, WHA has recognized outstanding member trustees who excel and make an exemplary commitment to his or her hospital and community.
In presenting the award to Mlsna, Stanford said, “WHA consistently receives some outstanding nominations for this award, but each year one or two really stand out. And that’s why I’m here this evening, to recognize someone who was a slam dunk selection by the awards committee. It’s truly my honor to present this year’s Wisconsin Hospital Association Trustee Award to Jim Mlsna.”
Over his 25-year tenure, Jim has seen both good times and challenging times for St. Joseph’s, serving and providing critical board leadership during times of celebration – such as the building of this wonderful new facility - and times of significant stress. But whether in good times or challenging times, Jim knew the potential for St. Joseph’s and its staff and was committed to sustaining health care in this community.
Gundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital and Clinics VP, Affiliate Administrator Kristie McCoic, nominated Mlsna for this award.
To close out the presentation, Stanford added, “As a board leader, you face critical decisions that impact not just the hospital and its staff, but also impact the health and success of their community. Thank you, Jim, for taking on those challenges to benefit St. Joseph’s, its staff, and Hillsboro.”
As part of his recognition, WHA will donate $500 to the charity of Mlsna’s choice.
