The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) sets aside a week every year to celebrate Health Information Professionals (HIP) and the superhero role they play as HIP Stars. It’s time to celebrate together and pay tribute to the vital, and difficult work HI professionals do every day, the value they bring to their organizations, the critical role they all play in every patient health care experience, and how essential their work is during this time of breathtaking evolution in health care. The theme this year is Health Information Powers Innovation, and our superpower is advancing innovation while ensuring that data remains accurate, complete, accessible and protected for every patient.
The WHA Information Center thanks all our member health information professionals for the role they play in ensuring Wisconsin health care data is available, accurate, secure, and is of the highest integrity. This ensures better clinical and business decisions that enhance health care quality. All HI professionals play a key role in the effective management of health data to deliver quality health care to the public.
We want to personally thank you for all that you do for the Wisconsin Hospital Association Information Center (WHAIC). Many may not even know it, but the dedication to data accuracy ensures data integrity downstream as it is used in WHAIC’s data analytics tools such as the Community Health Needs Assessment Mapping Tool, Wisconsin Workforce Dashboard, Kaavio, and the Payor Detail Dashboard (coming soon) and so many other applications of data, including the data sets that are released to authorized purchasers who use Wisconsin’s hospital and ambulatory surgery data for business development and clinical improvement.
AHIMA President and WHAIC Vice President and Chief Privacy Officer Jennifer Mueller, MBA, RHIA, SHIMSS, FACHE, FAHIMA, has recorded a special HIP WEEK® message. Feel free to share it with your colleagues to help spread the word about the value HI professionals bring to health care organizations.
