Two WHA board members have been selected to serve on American Hospital Association (AHA) committees. Aspirus Health CEO Matt Heywood was selected to join AHA’s Health Systems Committee (HSC) beginning Jan. 1, 2023, for a two-year term. The HSC convenes three times a year and advises AHA on advocacy positions, public policy issues and health system strategies.
Burnett Medical Center CEO Gordy Lewis, a member of AHA’s Regional Policy Board 5, was tapped to serve on its Nominating Committee, which selects the group’s chair. AHA has nine RPBs, which meet three times a year to foster communication between the AHA, its members and state hospital associations. The RPBs provide input on public policy issues, serve as ad hoc policy development committees when appropriate, and identify needs unique to a region and assist in developing programs to meet those needs.
“These two leaders are active and engaged members of the WHA board, and I know they will bring that same level of engagement to these AHA committees,” said WHA President and CEO Eric Borgerding. “Wisconsin hospitals and health systems are well-represented at the AHA table,” Borgerding continued.
In addition to Heywood and Lewis, the following Wisconsin health care leaders serve on AHA committees through 2023:
